One of my clients is running for mayor of Seattle! Go visit her website at JessynForMayor.com and see some more of my portraits of her. It is fun to see my work used for her campaign.
Read MoreConnor Alexander is a game designer and the creator of a new game called Coyote & Crow that is currently killing it on Kickstarter with over $500,000 raised. Since his original goal was $18,000, he is at 25 times his initial goal. The game obviously speaks to some people out there!
Read MoreI went down to the headquarters of Abbott Construction in Seattle to create new executive portraits of their CEO, Troy. They have a great office to work with. Over the course of the hour I was with Troy, we did several different settings including some studio headshots to give him a variety of images to work with. We varied from fully buttoned up to business casual so that he would be able to use the images for different purposes. I was quite please with this set of images.
Read MoreJosh Binda is an amazing young man and I find him inspiring. It is easy to go to protests, but it is hard to organize and lead them. It is easy to say you want to change things, but it is hard to come up with a plan to make change and to do the work to make it happen. When the opportunity presented itself with the Black Lives Matter movement, instead of shrinking to the back, Josh stepped forward and led marches all over Snohomish and parts of King Counties.
Read MoreMahlet is a realtor in Seattle. I went to her office in the Wallingford neighborhood to create some portraits of her for self-promotion and all the things realtors do. I first set up a studio space and then we walked around the neighborhood! We even did a few with her in her Ethiopian dress. Cool stuff!

Read MoreMy most recent shoot for the Spotlight Series is Frank and Jason of Shower to the People. They provide facilities for homeless people in Everett to shower as well as a few other services that help them feel valued and cared about as well as clean.
Read MoreI met Cecelia and her mom at the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle for her senior portraits. She wants to major in history and loves some of the same nerdy podcasts that I like to listen to. It was a beautiful, but cold day that looked great in the photographs.
Read MoreI really love photographing construction projects. Building big things is amazing. With my son Kyler working on a minor in urban policy, I have also become a bit of an urban policy enthusiast. The latest project that I photographed for Graham is the Alexan Central Park in Redmond. I love what Redmond is doing with its urban planning. They have created urban areas around a central park area that allows people to walk, bike, or use public transit easily to get to work as well as easy access to great food options. It really is great planning. Here is the new apartment complex the Alexan Central Park. These are project completion photographs for Graham. I think of them as light architectural photography.
Read More2020 was a strange year to be a wedding photographer. It started out with all of these plans for a couple of dozen big weddings. Some of those plans changed, others got postponed, and some people went for an elopement. The term for elopement also kind of morphed into "micro wedding" for some people that wanted an awesome event with fewer people.
Read MoreSeattle is a beautiful place with almost limitless places to take amazing portraits. For me having too many options can make it really difficult to make a choice, so I have created a list of some very cool places in Seattle to take engagement portraits.
Read MoreAs a personal project, I have started what I am calling my Spotlight Series. There are so many people in our community that are working to make things better in some way. My vision is that I want to find them, meet them, photograph them, and tell their stories.
The first person that I get to tell you about is Ian Bauer. He is a lawyer in Seattle that fights for abused kids and elderly people. He is also a dad, a music lover, and a former soccer goalkeeper.
Read MoreI met Nick at Pier 62 after another session. It is a great place for senior portraits at night. We did some portraits at Pier 62 with beautiful Seattle in the background, and then walked down the waterfront to find some neon lights for the background. It was great fun and I love the images.
Read MoreI met Averie at her sister’s wedding when she was 11. Since then, I’ve photographed her sister’s family a few times and her brother Chase when he was a senior. For Averie’s session, we met at the new waterfront park on Pier 62. I’ve been itching to shoot there with the entire city back behind Averie lit up the city lights.
Read MoreI met Levon and his mom in Bellevue for his senior portraits in the late afternoon and evening. Levon and his mom told me about their family, his brief history in fencing, and his college plans as we walked through Downtown Bellevue Park and the streets of Bellevue.
Read MoreI met Bjorn, his mom, his sister, and their dog at a hiking trail in Shoreline. We took photographs in trees, on rope swings, on cliffs, with graffiti and on the beach. Very fun!
Read MoreI first met this family a decade ago when my youngest son first started playing soccer. We have so many great memories with them! Check out their family portraits we took at Marymoor Park in Redmond!
Read MoreI met Emma, her mom, and her sisters at Pike Place Market for the beginning of her senior portrait shoot. Emma goes to Edmonds Woodway High School. After some images in the Market, we went down the stairs to the Aquarium where we had arranged to have a portrait session after hours. That was a very cool and fun place to shoot. We only had 30 minutes, but I could easily have spent three hours there. After our time at the Aquarium was up, we went next door to the new waterfront park for a few photographs before the darkness set it. It was great fun to photograph Emma!
Read MoreAmy is an aspiring photographer. She needed some portraits of herself for her website and social media. It is always a great compliment to me when a photographer I don’t already know chooses me for their photographs! I am a big believer in the power of good portraits in a small business’ marketing campaign.
Read MoreDelaney’s family has been friends of ours since before she was born. Her older sister and my daughter became friends in elementary school. Over the years, in addition to social visits, I have photographed their family, their extended family, cousins’ weddings, her sister’s wedding, and all three of her siblings’ senior portraits. It has been an extraordinary pleasure to watch Delaney grow up. I can’t wait to see what she does next!
We went to Marymoor Park for her senior portraits. :)
