7 Great Places in Seattle for Engagement Portraits + 1 Outside the City

Seattle is a beautiful place with almost limitless places to take amazing portraits. For me having too many options can make it really difficult to make a choice, so I have created a list of some very cool places in Seattle to take engagement portraits.

Golden Gardens Park

One of my favorite places to shoot. There is so much cool variety with the stand of trees on the beach, the beach itself, a forested walking path on the hill, and the marina down the street. See more portraits and weddings I’ve photographed at Golden Gardens.

Gas Works Park

Gas Works Park is a fun and interesting place to take photographs. It has a very cool old industrial area, including some you can play and shoot in, as well as views of Lake Union and the South Lake Union neighborhood and the amazing Kite Hill to get beautiful and interesting images. University of Washington

UW is a beautiful campus that is great for portraits. It is even better if you have a personal connection to the university. If you notice a theme, it is that I like to choose places with quite a bit of variety. Check out more images at the University of Washington.

Olympic Sculpture Park & Myrtle Edwards Park

Running a mile along the north side of Seattle’s downtown waterfront area, Myrtle Edwards Park is a wonderful place for portraits. It has amazing views with rocks reaching out into the Puget Sound and park areas. It is also just below the Olympic Sculpture Park with some very cool views and colorful backdrops. Washington State Ferry

One of the easiest ways to get incredible views of Seattle is to take the Bainbridge Island Ferry for a short ride across the water. Other ferry runs can be great as well. The ferry itself makes for a great environment for portraits as well. See more photographs on the Washington Ferry system!

Rattlesnake Lake

One of the most beautiful places easily accessible from Seattle is Rattlesnake Lake. Sitting 1000 feet higher in elevation than Seattle near I90, it makes for a great vista for portraits. Check out more images from Rattlesnake Lake!
