10 Seattle Elopements

2020 was a strange year to be a wedding photographer. It started out with all of these plans for a couple of dozen big weddings. Some of those plans changed, others got postponed, and some people went for an elopement. The term for elopement also kind of morphed into "micro wedding" for some people that wanted an awesome event with fewer people.

In 2020, I only photographed 11 weddings rather than 32 that I photographed in 2019, and 10 of them were micro-weddings or elopements as well as one full-size wedding in early February before health regulations made those impossible. Very strange year.

I did a couple at the Seattle Municipal Court, a couple with some of those same judges in nearby areas like the courtyard at Seattle City Hall, a backyard event, and one micro wedding in Seabrook. I also found some great areas for portraits. Some of them were taken in a near-empty city with very few pedestrians, or inside the Seattle Public Library, and others with all the restaurants lined up on a street in Ballard clapping one after another as the wedding couple walked by. It was a truly interesting year.

I feel very lucky to have been a part of all of these couples' wedding day whether it was the Seattle destination elopement they planned or the micro wedding they were forced into, it is a joy to be around people that love each other for a profession.
