Telling Stories
The magic of photography is about the story the image tells and the feelings it creates in the viewer. When you see a wedding photograph that makes you feel warm inside because of the absolute joy on the couple’s face, that is a successful image. When you see a pensive portrait of a young adult looking into the future, and you wonder what he is thinking, that image is working magic. When you see an image of an old door in Italy and you can see the generations of changes that have occurred and you wonder about the families that have lived inside, that is an image that is sharing a story.
I’m always looking forward to the next project and the story I get to tell!

I met Hailey, her mom, and sister at Wayne Park in Bothell. It is the old Wayne Golf Course that is now a park. We walked the park, worked around the mud, and made some very cool senior portraits of Hailey both with and without her musical instruments.
One of the great things about my job is the variety of things I get to photograph. For this job, I photographed the brand new Residence Inn at Northgate in Seattle for the builder. Architectural Photography is something I quite often do for my construction clients. For years I have done landscape and architectural photography as part of what I do for both social events and businesses as the place things take place helps to tell the story of what happened and what they do. For construction clients, the architectural tells the final piece of their story with the final result.
I was at Dr. Anderson’s dental office taking some branding photographs for his company. I had done some photographs of him working, portraits of Dr. Anderson and his staff, some photographs of his facilities and all the things I do during a branding session for a small business. I was commenting on his very cool business card holders that looked like the front of an older style VW Bus. It turns out that Dr Anderson is an afficianado and had a couple of restored VW buses. So we made plans to meet him at a park near my house for a few photographs of him and his baby. Literally photos with his baby, family, and also with the VW bus that evening. It is just one more example of how cool my job is as a photographer - one thing leads to another and another fun photoshoot emerges.
After a brief moment at UW, I met Sterling and his mom at the Pier 62 at the Seattle Waterfront just a few steps away from the new Overlook Walk Park. The Overlook Walk is a stunning addition that makes a beautiful space for photographs. It also works well as a way to get from Pike Place Market to the Waterfront, Pier 62 and the Aquarium. Part of it actually sits right on top of the new Aquarium expansion. Anyway, it was a beautiful evening with an amazing sunset that made for some truly stunning senior portraits for Sterling.
Kamila and Alan were married at the beautiful courthouse in Seattle. The Municipal Court features a rooftop deck and also some great indoor view options for cold, dark January evenings.
Maddie and Aidan were married at the beautiful Edgewater Hotel on the Seattle Waterfront. Their wedding was bigger than an elopement, but not a full-size wedding. I think so many people appreciate a small wedding. Lovely people and a beautiful place!
